It is that time of the year again when we begin the Columbiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts annual tree sale. This year the district is offering 37 different varieties of seedling trees and shrubs including conifers, deciduous trees, and flowering trees. The available species will be beneficial for stopping erosion, enhancing backyard areas, creating windbreaks, and growing wildlife plots. The order form and species descriptions for all the species featured can be found below
Seedlings will come in packets of 2-10 plants depending on variety and range from 6”-36” in size. Orders are on a first come first serve basis. Buyers are encouraged to
place their orders early to ensure plant availability.
Pickup dates for this year will be April 16th-17th (8am-6pm) and April 18th (8am-4pm) at the SWCD office.

2025 Fish Sale
It is also time for the SWCD’s spring fish sale. The district will be selling fish fingerlings from Fender’s Fish Hatchery for stocking in Ohio waters only. Orders for the 2025 fish sale will be taken until March 24, 2025. The pickup date will be April 3, 2025 between 10:30 and 12PM.
Pickup will take place in the parking lot of Kent State University’s Salem Campus,
located at 2491 St Rt 45, Salem, OH 44460. Orders must be picked up at the
specified time. On the day of pickup, you will need to bring container(s) of pond
water at the rate of 5-10 gallons of water per 100 fish. Amur and Koi require 5
gallons of water for every 2 fish. Minnows require 5 gallons of water for every 1,000 fish. Line your container with a new plastic liner/garbage bag before adding
water and tying the liner shut (no lids!).
