August EOGC Pasture Walk

Eastern Ohio Grazing Council Pasture Walk - August 27, 2026 at 6pm

The August pasture walk will be begin at 6:00pm at the farm owned by Tom Blocksum, 43628 State Route 517, Columbiana, Ohio 44408. We will tour the farm and learn about the grazing management, watering system, and heavy use feeding areas that are used to manage the 50 Fall calving beef cows. At the conclusion of the tour, the group will move to Rich Wilk’s farm, located at 3700 Fairfield School Road, Columbiana, Ohio 44408. A light meal will be provided at this location, and we will learn how Rich markets hay based on the nutrient value of the forage. Ryan Hockensmith, agronomist at Carrollton Farmers Exchange, will join us to speak on effects of the toxic endophyte found in fescue on grazing animals, soil fertility, and weed control in your forages.

This event will be rain or shine. So, bring your sunglasses & hat or rubber boots & umbrella, along with your questions for the experts.
